“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” – Genesis 1:1

Everything begins with God. Before there was anything, there was him. Everything we see and experience finds its foundation in the God who made it.

In Genesis 1–11 we encounter the beginning of the story. These opening chapters reveal the beauty of creation, the tragedy of the fall, and the unfolding purpose of God for the world. Join us as we explore these ancient and foundational chapters of the Bible. Together we will rediscover the God who creates, provides, judges, and shows mercy, and see how the beginning helps us make sense of life today.

As we behold the character and glory of God, our prayer is that we would encounter His glory and goodness, and be humbled, comforted, and emboldened to live faithful and wise lives in our generation.

God

Before anything existed, there was God. Eternal, transcendent, and sovereign, He is the source, sustainer, and ruler of all things. Creation begins not with us, but with the God without whom nothing exists.

Creation

God brings order from chaos, forming a world designed for life and flourishing. Creation reveals the goodness of God, reminding us that the world was made good and points us to its good Creator.

Humanity

Humanity is the pinnacle of God’s creation, made in His image with dignity, value, and purpose. Men and women are called to represent God’s rule and steward creation for its flourishing.

Work

Work was God’s good design long before the fall. Created to cultivate and steward creation together, our work reflects God’s character and contributes to the flourishing of the world He made.

Rest

God rests on the seventh day, setting a pattern for humanity. True rest is more than stopping work; it is trusting God’s finished work and longing for the ultimate rest He promises.

Family

God declares it is not good for humanity to be alone and establishes family as a gift. Through marriage and community, God’s people reflect His image and participate in His unfolding plan.

Men & Women

Men and women share equal dignity as image bearers yet are created distinct and complementary. God’s design calls us to honour, love, and work together, reflecting His wisdom in our differences.

Serpent

Temptation enters the story as the serpent questions God’s word and goodness. Humanity faces the pull of autonomy and distrust, revealing the subtle lies that continue to shape our struggle today.

Sin

Sin fractures humanity’s relationship with God and introduces shame, fear, and brokenness into the human story. Our rebellion shapes every life and reveals our deep need for God’s saving grace.

Curse

The fall brings consequences. Relationships with God, one another, and creation are broken. Yet even within the curse, God points forward to hope and restoration through the one who will defeat evil.

Worship

Outside Eden, humanity still longs to approach God. Cain and Abel reveal both the desire for worship and the tension of sinful hearts, reminding us that true worship depends on God’s grace.

Rivalry

Jealousy and pride lead Cain to violence, turning brother against brother. Sin fractures human relationships and replaces collaboration with rivalry, revealing how far humanity has drifted from God’s design.

Toil

Life under the curse is marked by repetition, toil, and death. In this sermon, we see the weight of the human story—and a glimpse of hope in God’s ongoing purposes.

Corruption

Human wickedness spreads until every thought is bent toward evil. God grieves over the corruption of His creation, yet even in darkness a glimmer of hope appears through Noah.

Judgement

God judges the corruption of the earth through the flood, revealing both the seriousness of sin and the mercy of rescue. Through Noah, God preserves life and points toward a new beginning.

Covenant

After the flood, God establishes a covenant with Noah, promising faithfulness to the world He created. The rainbow stands as a sign of hope, reminding us that God remembers His people.

Shame

Even after rescue, sin remains. Noah’s family experiences shame and dishonour, revealing the lingering effects of the fall and the deep need for healing, restoration, and renewed hearts.

Nations

From Noah’s family the nations spread across the earth. Despite human brokenness, God continues His purposes for creation, showing that history and the destiny of nations remain under His sovereign rule.

Fame

At Babel humanity seeks greatness apart from God, building a name for themselves. God scatters them, exposing the emptiness of human pride and the danger of pursuing glory without him.

Promises

God calls Abraham and makes a promise that will shape the rest of the Bible. Through him a nation will come and through that nation the whole world will receive blessing.
